In spite of much talk, and the love of the extended family for the Gem Fields, it's four years since our last visit. It didn't seem that this year was going to result in a trip, either, until nephew Nathan informed us that he was taking the first week of August as holidays and was coming up here. Naturally we immediately asked if we could tag along on his holiday... and then asked if we could invite our other niece, Jess. Plans fell into place for everyone and we arrived the week before the kids. They both left Brisbane before the snap lockdown was announced, which was an answer to prayer as we watched the unfolding situation in NSW and were constantly wondering when it would impact on Qld.
The bush shower and toilet we set up for the kids.
In spite of everyone's hard work they didn't find the big one to pay for a house deposit, but the did find some small ones.
A definite highlight was sitting around the fire watching the sunset, chatting and laughing.
We also enjoyed visits from the local rainbow lorikeets and brolgas.
