Margaret River Region

The caravan park we stayed at was on the edge of a farm with a pretty dam. There were also quite a few birds around.

Common Bronzewing

Red Wattlebird

Baudin's Black Cockatoo

Australian Shelduck

Grey Fantail

Australian Ringneck

Grey Butcherbird

One afternoon we went for a drive out to the mouth of the Margaret River. We watched the surfers for while.

Then we went for a walk a little way up the river.

Pied Oyster-Catcher

Male and female Southern Emu-wrens

Cape Leeuwin
Last time we were here we (or maybe Dad!) paid to go in to the heritage area and climb the lighthouse, so this time we didn't bother. There was plenty to amuse ourselves with as we walked around the rocks and enjoyed the colours and textures.

There was quite an array of flowers.

Australasian Pipit

Silvereye

Eastern Reef Egret

Southern Emu-wren

Splendid Fairy-wren

Boranup Forest Drive
We enjoyed a slow drive through the forest on our way back north, stopping at a lookout that took in views back towards the south and east.

Cape Naturaliste
Our first stop was Castle Rock Bay, which was very pretty.

While we sat and ate our lunch a couple of whales put on a show on their way past.

We did a walk around Cape Naturaliste and saw another whale.

White-breasted Robin

White-browed Scrubwren

New Holland Honeyeater

Red Wattlebird

We thought we heard voices on the beach below Bunker Bay Lookout, but it turned out to be the fur seals that were mentioned on the sign board!

We also caught a glimpse of a turtle.
