Years ago we met a guy who had been digging for garnets at Harts Range, so we put a detour in our schedule out to Gem Tree. After a quick discussion we decided we'd rather speck for zircons just down the road, rather than drive all the way out to Harts Range for the day. It turned out to be a great decision. Either people don't know what they are 
doing or they are only looking for massive zircons. A day and a half of specking old piles of wash yielded far more than a season at Sapphire would!
