Cotton Tree 2024

We had a very busy year in 2023. Dazz finished his PhD and we had a major landscaping push to get the block ready for sale. We were certainly ready for a beach holiday. We were back in our favourite spot and enjoyed walks along the waterfront and to the supermarkets (for reduced to clear specials!).

As always, we had some yummy food...

...and sunsets over the river mouth.

It wasn't all sunshine, though. It was very humid most of the time, and there were quite a few heavy downpours (but no leaks, thankfully).

The drama of the holiday was that the air conditioner stopped working. The wonderful technician popped in the afternoon we called (even though they couldn't guarantee a visit/fix for a couple of weeks because they were busy). What he thought was going to be a 5 minute fuse replacement turned into "sorry, I can't work on that" because of an installation issue. When we had the air con replaced (quite a few years ago) they used the old frame/hole for the new one, and the module containing the fuse had a screw obscured by the frame, and in order to prevent leaks, the whole unit was stuck to the roof with a good deal of Sikaflex. After quite a bit of thinking and researching of the schematics, we decided the most cost efficient (and quick) solution would be to buy a multi tool from Bunnings and cut the bracket that the obscured screw went through. This would allow us to slide the module out and replace the fuse. The technician had told us to get one that was a slightly higher capacity as the fuse blowing is a known issue. A trip to Jaycar, and much praying later and the air con was working again!
