There had been a lot of rain in the south west of Queensland earlier in the winter, which closed a lot of dirt roads, but as we left the Gem Fields it seemed like we would be able to get to Currawinya National Park... but then there was a bit more rain, so the road closed again. We both had some work to do, and Eulo had 5G coverage, so we decided to camp on the banks of the Paroo and wait and see if we could get down to the park later in the week.
We had a lovely couple of hours kayaking on the Paroo one afternoon and there was a great variety of birdlife.
Little Black Cormorants
White Necked Heron
Eastern Great Egret
Royal Spoonbill
There were a couple of short nature drives either side of the river. One went to a billabong and the other to some "granites".
We also drove out to the old mound springs.
Grey-crowned Babbler
White-browed Woodswallow
