Telecom Hill
After setting up camp we went for a short walk up Telecom Hill. There were quite a few birds around and the afternoon sun was golden.
Amalia Gorge
The hike started with a pleasant walk up the creek, but we had forgotten about the rock-climbing that was involved. We needed to take our packs off a couple of times and pass them up/down/across, but it wasn't too difficult.
Double-barred Finch
Brown Honey-eater
Champagne Springs
This was a longer walk that we didn't do last time. It started off along the Pentecost River before turning up a dry creek bed.
The walk then opened out to more rocky spinifex country.
Emma Gorge
There were some pretty pools further up the creek and interesting samples of ripple rock. The reflected light on the red gorge walls is always stunning, and Dazz enjoyed a swim under the waterfall.
Chamberlain Gorge
We had some time after we got back from Emma Gorge so we drove out to Chamberlain Gorge for a quick look.
El Questro Gorge
Dazz had a meeting in the afternoon which ruled out trying to get to the end of El Questro Gorge. He also decided that he'd rather go slow and take photos with his good camera than take the old camera and walk through water and climb boulders to get through the middle pool. It was a really pretty walk as this gorge is narrower and more rainforest-y than the other ones.
Airing up the tyres after all the dirt roads.
