The information at the Perenjori visitor centre included a note about an orchid walk in Latham. It would only take about 10 minutes more driving time for us to go to Cervantes via Latham, so we thought we'd see if we could find any new (to us) varieties, which we did - Ant Orchids.
Once we'd finished the walk we headed west. All of a sudden I realised a drum on the side of the road said "Wreath", with an arrow pointing down a dirt road. Dazz slowed up, but the road wasn't wide enough to turn around. Then he noticed another road off to the right. He pulled in there and we checked the map and the two roads were connected, and it looked like there were places to turn around with the caravan, so we went back and followed the arrow.
Dazz made the most of the stop by snapping some other interesting plants.
By now it was time for lunch, so I told Dazz that I'd go inside and make it while he looked up the other road. Sucess! There were two plants up that road with flowers on them! This was the nicest one.
Now we were starting to run late for the day, so we really had to get a move on. But that didn't mean we couldn't stop to take photos of some echidnas that were trying to cross the road. By the time we stopped and walked back the one that had crossed the road had taken off and the others were trying to hide.
We finally made it to Cervantes and even had time for a short walk along the water.
