Through the Stirling Ranges to Lake Grace

The day started of cloudy but gradually cleared as we went north.

Our destination was Lake Grace, a salt lake.  It was a little more like a clay pan than a salt lake.

The clouds made for some sunset photo fun...

Albany & the Torndirrup National Park

Dazz read about a guy who did carvings with a chainsaw, so we went to have a look.  Some pieces were better than others but I liked the chainsaw stuck in the tree and the rhino.

The blowholes were 'blowing' but they were more about the sound than the spray.  It was hard to capture the mist on the camera, so this one shows the pretty colours in some of the rocks instead.

What does one do when there's a beautiful white beach?

Handstands and cartwheels, of course...

There were so many great coves and bays.

The recently opened walkway and lookout allow for a great view down into the cauldron below.

Greens Pool & Elephant Rock

There was only one stop we wanted to make between Manjimup and Albany, but the weather wasn't looking very favourable.  We saw a toffee factory sign, so pulled off there for a look and taste and when we came out it had stopped raining.  We weren't far from the turn-off for Greens Pool so we took off in hope of getting there before the next shower came across.

Greens Pool was very calm and protected, but the waves out the back were a little more nasty looking.

Elephant Rock was really pretty, but we only just made it before the rain hit... and we had strong wind and rain for the rest of the afternoon!

Ellie did a great job of spotting this little guy on the side of the path.

Walpole-Nornalup National Park

The forests around Walpole are known for their big trees and we weren't disappointed.

We managed to get these photos in spite of the threatening rain.

Fortunately it's been too cold for the wildflowers to be out... or we would have hundreds more photos!

This was a water droplet in the centre of a plant.

Conspicuous Cliffs

Dazz managed to get one waterfall photo in at Circular Pool before the rain started.

The rain wasn't quite giving the 'mist' effect, but it was pretty enough to stop for.

Some other random forest panos from near the caravan park.

In and around Manjimup

On the way to Manjimup we saw a sign for a sheep-cheese factory... so of course we had to stop:)

The caravan park provided a close-up opportunity for photos of white-tailed cockatoos... unfortunately they spent the day dropping pine cones on our roof...

The town has a great park, including this massive slide!

 And a flying fox.

Turns out our visit to the park was just the beginning of our climbing adventures.

The first of the climbing trees we came across was the Diamond Tree - the top platform is 52 metres high and Ellie and I made it to the top.

At least all of the rain means that paddocks are beautiful and green.

We spent the next few hours on the Karri Explorer Forest Drive.

This was water week in one of the streams.

The Beedelup Falls

The Bicentennial Tree is 75 metres high, but we only went to the first platform.  I wasn't confident that my legs would get me all the way up and back!

Although we were running a bit late we decided to make a dash for Point D'Entrecasteaux.  We just beat the rain, but the wind was fierce.
