Lighthouses and the Margaret River area

We had two full days to explore around Margaret River and had initially planned to do one lighthouse each day, along with a number of factories.

First stop was the Cape Naturaliste Lighthouse, where we did a short walk and saw more wildflowers.

Cheese factories have become an important part of holidays with Ellie, and there were two on the list of the morning.

So, of course, we had to have a cheese platter for lunch.  I think we had 9 different cheeses, along with ham, cucumber, tomato, olives (home-preserved by Dazz), kiwi fruit and jaboticaba jam (another of Dazz's homemade specialties).

Since the rain was holding off we changed our plans for the afternoon and decided to drive down to Cape Leeuwin and see the lighthouse there.  It's the highest lighthouse on mainland Australia and the view from the top was quite spectacular.

The drive through the forest on the way home was also very beautiful.

Since we'd done the lighthouses on day 1, day 2 was all about the food... starting with the Margaret River Chocolate Co.

We also discovered they had a Providore, with tastings of all their pickles, jams, chutneys, vinegars, olive oils and dressings... we used a lot of little tasting spoons between the three of us!

There was an obligatory winery or two...

And a trip out to the beach... for some gymnastics.
